ON WEDNESDAY
evening we see an exodus to Hogsthorpe for the induction of Father Terry by the Bishop of Grimsby. It will be great to see him again, and Sally too, and to wish them well in their new parish. The coach will leave St Mark’s at 5.10 pm, pick up the St Martin’s contingent outside Grimsby Institute at 5.20 pm and arrive at St James’ Church at 5.30 pm. There are still one or two places available on the coach and please let Shirley know on 358610 if you wish to travel in this way. The cost will be £4 per person.
TOMORROW AFTERNOON members of the Diocesan Advisory Committee are visiting St James’ to look at proposals for improving the shop facilities at the West End of the Church. Our Architects, Pearce Bottomley, have been working on this project in recent weeks. THE EXECUTIVE of Churches Together meets at tea time and continues to pursue an exciting and effective agenda of community engagement. We are now considering a project called Street Angels which involves working with the Police on Friday and Saturday evenings, initially in Cleethorpes, in seeking to reduce crime, injury and personal distress. ON THURSDAY morning we welcome St James’ School for a Eucharist celebrated by the Woodard Chaplain, Canon Brendan Clover. LATER on Thursday the Christmas Lights will be switched on at the Riverhead Square at 6.15 pm. The Rector will be there to join in the singing of the first Carols of the Christmas Season. ST MARK’S CHURCH is the venue for a meeting of the Parochial Church Council at 7.30 pm. A NEW MEMBER OF STAFF has joined the team this month with the arrival of Ann-Marie Jennings who has been seconded from Lisle Marsden Primary School for one day per week. Ann-Marie will co-ordinate our work with local schools and we are delighted to have her with us. JUST RECEIVED the news that our Parochial Church Council has been registered with the Charity Commission and now has a charity number. This is part of new legislation for parishes of our size and we are hugely grateful to Sally Bardell for facilitating the process. Michael Hunter, Rector |
